CLEAN

UVI is working to partner with SJSU and student-athletes for an initiative that will bring storekeepers out in front of their stores, help keep these designated blocks free of debris

Exploring more efficient placements for additional trash receptacles to put throughout the city

UVI is working with private property owners to place cameras on buildings to help find the source of illegal dumping and stop it at the source

UVI is working with Groundwerx (the crew that power washes San Jose) to help figure out ways to more proactively clean gateways, such as Santa Clara Ave, so the city is more welcoming

 

SAFE

Working with Groundwerx to put more lights on the city streets

Participated in the walkabout town with Chief Mata

Held Meet-and-greets between SJPD and business owners to help strengthen the relations between the two

 

Downtown San Jose Community Policing

Received 530+ signatures so far on our Foot Patrol Program that aims to ensure the safety of residents and visitors in Downtown San Jose

 
 
 

COMMUNITY

UVI’s Hunger at Home initiative worked with over 30 non-profit organizations and distributed 2.2 million pounds of produce

Donated 18,500 ship kits to 85,000 people in need which included food and essential toiletries

Donated 5,000 masks and 4,000 sets of latex gloves to hospitals

Hosted vaccination drives where 40 volunteers gave shots to 1100 residents

Gave away 3,000 pairs of pajama sets and other essentials to more than 300 families in December

UVI supported a concept called Chef’s Market where a semi-truck trailer was used as a cooperative kitchen between 5 kitchens as a non-DoorDash alternative. Chef’s Market was a huge success with space donated by Urban Community, the restaurants were able to recognize $40,000 in revenue.
